US Open: Πρόκριση στους «8» για τον Ρούμπλεφ

Ο Αντρέι Ρούμπλεφ επιβεβαίωσε τον τίτλο του φαβορί που είχε απέναντι στον 21χρονο Βρετανό, Τζακ Ντρέιπερ, και με 3-1 σετ (6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4) εξασφάλισε το έκτο «εισιτήριο» για τους προημιτελικούς του US Open.

Μετά από ένα αγώνα 2 ωρών και 44 λεπτών, ο Ρώσος (νο8 στον κόσμο) κατάφερε να κάμψει την αντίσταση που προέβαλε ο νεαρός Άγγλος τενίστας και με 44 winners να φτάσει στη νίκη, που ήταν η 3η επί του Ντρέιπερ σε ισάριθμα ματς που έχουν συναντηθεί στο κορτ.

Ο Ρούμπλεφ καταφέρνει να περάσει σε τρίτο προημιτελικό Grand Slam στην τρέχουσα σεζόν, επαναλαμβάνοντας τις επιτυχίες που είχε στο Australian Open και στο Wimbledon, ωστόσο, μέχρι τώρα μετρά 8 ήττες σε ισάριθμα παιχνίδια στην φάση των «8» και φιλοδοξεί να το αλλάξει αυτό στην επόμενη μάχη που θα δώσει στη Νέα Υόρκη με έναν εκ των Ντανιίλ Μεντβέντεφ ή, Αλεξ Ντε Μινόρ.
