Κ. Σημίτης: Η ένταξη της Ελλάδας στο ευρώ ήταν σωστή επιλογή, στη σωστή συγκυρία, με εθνική συστράτευση

Ο πρώην πρωθυπουργός Κώστας Σημίτης με αφορμή τα 20 χρόνια από την ένταξη της Ελλάδας στο ευρώ δήλωσε πως ήταν ένας σωστός εθνικός στόχος που επετεύχθη με συστράτευση.

 

« Στην επιτυχία αυτή φτάσαμε μετά από συστηματική προσπάθεια της κυβέρνησής μας και ολόκληρης της κοινωνίας. Ήταν ένας εθνικός στόχος που τον πέτυχαμε. Ήταν μια νίκη που προστάτευσε τη χώρα μας σε δύσκολες και αντίξοες συνθήκες. Ήταν μια σωστή επιλογή, στη σωστή συγκυρία, με εθνική συστράτευση», τόνισε ο κ. Σημίτης σε γραπτή δήλωσή του.

 

Επεσήμανε ότι ο ελληνικός λαός σήμερα έχει αναγνωρίσει την αξία του ευρώ, που έχει διευκολύνει την οικονομία και την καθημερινότητα του.

 

Ταυτόχρονα ο πρώην πρωθυπουργός, που κατά την περίοδο της διακυβέρνησης του επετεύχθη η ένταξη στο ευρώ, υπενθύμισε ότι «ήταν το πρώτο βήμα στο εγχείρημα της ενωμένης Ευρώπης. Ένας στόχος που αποτελεί μια αδήριτη ανάγκη σήμερα, στην εποχή των μεγάλων γεωπολιτικών ανακατατάξεων».
